I’m a country girl with a passion for colour and fabric. I grew up on Killanear, our family property near Boorowa, the small rural community in South East New South Wales famous for its fine merino wool and its Irish heritage celebrated each year with a wool festival and traditional running of the sheep.
In our household, the family kitchen was the hub of our home. With a fuel stove burning, my Mum’s fantastic home cooked meals on the table and the closeness that comes from family and friends who share a special bond, I couldn’t have wished for more.
So why change a thing? I still live in Boorowa and I still believe that there’s nothing nicer than building relationships over a meal shared around a table. Which is why in February 2005, I decided to make a long-cherished dream a reality when I launched my own home-based business Hurley-Burley.
The Hurley-Burley range comes straight from the heart of the country kitchen. These are the tried and true household essentials your grandma relied on, only now they’re fun and funky as wall as practical. My range is based almost exclusively on oilcloth. I love the versatility and feel of this fabric. Its long wearing, easy care, and comes in a stunning range of colours and patterns. I particularly like the pink designs – but then anyone who knows me will tell you I’m a pink kind of girl!
So as you tie your Hurley-Burley apron, and spread your Hurley-Burley tablecloth, remember that they were made especially for you as you share the good times with family and friends around your table.
